The Barracks is a military production building in Age of Empires IV that can be built starting in the Dark Age. It trains and upgrades melee infantry units. For several civilizations it also offers unique technologies that improve melee infantry units.

Changelog[]
- With update 8324, Phalanx was added to the Abbasid Dynasty Barracks.
- With update 6.0.878, Riveted Chain Mail is no longer available at the Holy Roman Empire Barracks.
- With patch 9.1.370, the Samurai icon in the Barracks was flipped to distinguish it visually from the Onna-Bugeisha icon next to it in the UI.
- With update 12.0.1974, Jeanne's Champions and Champion Equipment can now be trained/researched at the Barracks if Champion Companions is chosen when Jeanne is advancing to Tier 3.
Campaign version[]
Because the campaigns have not been rebalanced since the release of the game, Barracks in the campaign have only 1,200 HP instead of 1,500. They are otherwise the same.
