The Bang Engine (also known as BANG or BANG!) is a 3D game engine developed by Ensemble Studios that runs Age of Mythology and Age of Empires III, including all their expansions. Work on the engine began at the same time as development on Age of Empires II.[1]

The engine version for Age of Empires III incorporates Havok physics middleware,[2] in addition to bloom lighting effects and pixel shader 3.0 support.[3]
