โ€œ A Mongol general and grandson of Genghis Khan. Can fire Signal Arrows to improve the combat capabilities of nearby military units. โ€
Age of Empires IV description

Baidar is a light ranged cavalry leader who appears in the The Battle of Liegnitz scenario of the The Mongol Empire campaign in Age of Empires IV. He has the same abilities as the Mongol Khan in standard games, minus the Scouting Falcon. Unlike most other playable Mongol leaders of the The Mongol Empire campaign, he has no additional active special abilities.

Ability[]

  • Signal Arrows (Active): Baidar can fire a Signal Arrow to temporarily buff all units (including himself) with an aura with a 8.75 tile radius for 5 seconds. Activating one Signal Arrow puts all Signal Arrows on a 90 second cooldown. The Whistling Arrows technology will increase the duration and range of each signal arrow.
    • AoE4 ManeuverArrow Maneuver Arrow: Increases the movement speed of nearby units by +33%. Does not affect Villagers.
    • AoE4 AttackSpeedArrow Attack Speed Arrow (requires Feudal Age): Increases the attack speed of nearby ranged units by 50%. Does not affect siege engines.
    • AoE4 DefenseArrow Defense Arrow (requires Castle Age): Increases the armor (melee and ranged) of nearby units by +2.
  • AoE4 HealEnhancement Fortitude (Passive): Heals while out of combat.

Campaign appearances[]

The Mongol Empire[]

  • The Battle of Liegnitz: Baidar leads the Mongol forces in their raid on the Duchy of Silesia, in Poland. They must defeat the Polish Army before the Bohemians arrive to reinforce them, or else take on the combined might of both kingdoms.

History[]

Baidar, also known as Peta (fl. 13th century), was the sixth son of Chagatai Khan, and grandson of Genghis Khan. He is famous for his participation in the Mongol campaigns in Europe, particularly at the Battle of Liegnitz. His descendants would go on to be rulers of the Chagatai Khanate, which succeeded the Mongol Empire of Genghis Khan in Central Asia, and would themselves be later succeeded by the Timurids.
