—In-game description
The Bactrian Archer is an untrainable foot archer unit in Chronicles: Battle for Greece. It is available in the Scenario Editor and present in the Battle for Greece campaign, where it is one of the bodyguard units that can be chosen in the first act when playing as the Achaemenids. It is the equivalent of the Cretan Archer in the second and third acts, although its statistics are slightly different.
The Battle of Marathon: The Persian army under Datis has several archer battalions composed entirely of Bactrian Archers. The Medizers also field some Bactrian Archers.
The Hot Gates: Persian land forces at Thermopylae employ Bactrian Archers.
As Bactrian Archers are only available to the Achaemenids in the campaign, only technologies that are available to them are shown in the following table:
Despite being described as a "unique ranged unit", it does not have the unique unit armor class.
In the game files, the 'Reload Time' is 1.8, but 'Shown Reload Time' is 1.9.
Considering the entire Age of Empires II dataset, it is one of the few units which have an attack bonus vs cavalry, but none vs camels. Another such unit is the Mameluke.
