The ability of a unit to attack a position on the map/ground instead of a unit or building is called attack ground ability. This is usually an ability associated with siege units. It is notably useful for micro, as it allows a unit to fire where it expects its target to end up.

Genie Engine[]

To enable attack ground ability for a unit, set its combat ability (attribute 63) flag 8 to true.
