โ | Hera's favor causes your Fortresses to periodically spawn Myrmidons for free. | โ |
—In-game description |
Argive Patronage is a Greek myth technology in Age of Mythology: Retold, available to research at the Fortress if the Mythic Age is reached through Hera. Once researched, it makes Fortresses automatically spawn Myrmidons, the unique unit of Zeus, once every 45 seconds.
Effects[]
- Fortress: Spawns a Myrmidon every 45 seconds. This spawning is slower than the Myrmidon training time (14 seconds), but costs no resources. Fortresses can still train other units (including Myrmidons) and research technologies while it is spawning. The spawn can be paused or resumed by clicking on the leftmost Myrmidon icon above the command panel which appears after this technology is researched.
Strategy[]

Considering total food and gold cost, the technology's cost is equivalent to five Myrmidons. Therefore, at least five Myrmidons must be spawned this way for the cost to break even. With one Fortress, the break even point will be reached in just 3 minutes and 45 seconds. Considering the favor cost as well, which gathers at a slower rate, the number will be higher for the total Villager work-seconds cost of the technology.
History[]
โ | The Argives, famed participants in the Trojan War, were a group of Greeks who enjoyed special favor from Hera, queen of the Olympians. These notoriously deadly infantry warriors fought alongside other Greeks, whom Homer referred to as Achaeans and Danaans. Later, the term was applied to the inhabitants of Argolis in the Peloponnese, which also housed a famous cult center dedicated to Hera. | โ |
