Aral Sea selection.
Aral Sea is a Real World random map introduced in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. It is based on the sea of the same name in Kazakhstan.
Description[edit | edit source]
Aral Sea, as mentioned before, is meant to represent both the real-life Aral Sea and the area surrounding it. Upon selection, the map size will default to "Giant". The very large sea in the center takes up the most of the map, and has more than plentiful amounts of Fish. Due to the very large size of the sea, the use of ships is encouraged, including the use of Transport Ships to reach enemy bases, as not to spend more time walking around the sea on this large map.
When starting the map, herdable animals such as Geese and Pigs will be found near the Town Centers. Ibexes are the huntable animals of the map. The sea will have two islands in it, always containing Gold and/or Stone Mines on the island closest to the sea's center, along with a Relic; and the other island closer to land will usually just have one random mine. The land surrounding the sea will be dotted with plenty of Relics. Trees are found in large patches, and never in walls or strips. The climate of the map always appears as a mild autumn.
