American Patriots is a technology in Age of Empires III that is unique to the United States in Act III: Steel and can be researched at the Church once the Fortress Age is reached and the Royal Decree to Claim the New World Home City Card has been sent. Once researched, 16 Militiamen will appear on the Home City shipment point.
Unlike the similar Levy, Militiamen from American Patriots can be mustered to any building capable of receiving Home City shipments, not just Town Centers, and is free of charge.
