Alpine Lakes is a random map in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition.

The terrain features a mix of grassy areas covered mostly in snow, dead trees and small lakes that almost always have fish in them.
Town Centers will start with either pigs or sheep. There are Gold Mines and Stone Mines peppered around the map, but are very spaced out and can be potentially rare based on the randomized layout, meaning that Villagers may need to travel very far to get to them.
Because of the frequency of small lakes with fish, this provides an easy food source, but leaves the use of ships pointless due to the small sizes of the bodies of water, unless Fishing Ships are used. The lakes are commonly coupled with bamboo surrounding them.
