Age of Mythology: Retold - Immortal Pillars is an expansion for Age of Mythology: Retold which adds the Chinese pantheon and the Pillars of the Gods campaign.[1] Including the god packs, this is the fourth expansion of the Age of Mythology series, and the first for Retold to feature a new pantheon.
This expansion was released on March 4, 2025, alongside update 18.9036 and the PlayStation 5 port of the game and its expansions, though much of the expansion's content was previously added to the game files inaccessibly in update 18.7603. It also adds 21 new achievements to the game.
Retail information[]
The expansion is included in the Premium Edition of Retold; owners of that edition need not purchase it separately. There was no early access of the expansion on any platform or for any game edition.
Civilization[]
The expansion reintroduces the Chinese civilization. This civilization has been significantly reworked from its first iteration which was introduced in Tale of the Dragon, but was not included in the release of Retold.

The expansion adds the nine-scenario campaign Pillars of the Gods, which is an original story inspired from Chinese mythology. Its antagonist is Huang Zhaowu - an immortal and former hero who attempts to destroy the Pillars of Heaven and overthrow the Celestial Court in vengeance for the loss of his wife. The protagonist Yan Feifeng, dubbed "Shennong's Chosen" and advised by Cangjie, must stop Huang Zhaowu and mend the damage with Nüwa's help. In this quest, he is assisted by the legendary archer Houyi, as well as some heroes and warriors from other parts of the world.

- The cultural and mythological accuracy of this expansion was ensured by the developer team Virtuos Ltd, who are a Chinese company established in Shanghai and based in Singapore.[2]
- Per initial information, the expansion was scheduled to release in late 2024. On November 21, 2024, it was announced that the release would be in 2025.
- Like the base game Age of Mythology: Retold, the cover artwork of this expansion was also made by Atomhawk.[3]
