Age of Empires is the original history based real-time strategy computer game set during the ancient times. The game was developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft. It was first released in North America on 26 October 1997. Age of Empires was later updated with the Rise of Rome expansion pack. It was announced Age of Empires: Definitive Edition, an upcoming remaster of the original Age of Empires for its 20th anniversary, which will be released later in 2017.
October 31, 1998
The first and final expansion for the Age of Empires, The Rise of Rome, is released by Ensemble Studios.
October 26, 1997
Age of Empires is released by Ensemble Studios.
