Starting conditions[]

Objectives[]

Main Objectives
  • Prepare your defenses. Bayezid will attack in 30 minutes.
Secondary Objectives
  • Raid outlying Ottoman camps (Blue) to weaken Bayezid's army.
  • Send an emissary to Emir Taherten of the Turkomans (Yellow) in his fortress to the east.
    • Bring 5 Elite Keshiks to Taherten's citadel to train his men.
  • Meet with the commander of the Anatolian Sipahis just across the river to the west of your camp.
    • Destroy the two Ottoman supply camps southwest of the Sipahi camp.
  • Parley with the Wallachian auxiliaries south of Bayezid's camp.
    • Tribute 500 gold to the Wallachian auxiliaries (Player 5) to persuade them to desert Bayezid.
  • Visit the commander of the Balkan auxiliaries south of Bayezid's camp.

Hints[]

  1. Tamerlane's forces (Purple and Red) can support a population of 150 each.
  2. Your ability to parry Bayezid's assault hinges on how well you manage to weaken his army before the battle begins. Destroying outlying enemy camps and winning over auxiliary troops will increase your chances of victory.
  3. Avoid enemy power centers at all costs before you have fought off Bayezid's attack. Focus on raiding supply camps and convincing the Turkish auxiliaries to desert instead.
  4. Tamerlane has brought a large supply of gold with him, but it will not last forever. Quickly build up an economy and seek out new sources of income to finance your army.
  5. Gunpowder units are powerful. Beware those of the enemy, but use your own to your advantage.

Scouts[]

  • Tamerlane's forces (Purple and Red) have arrived in Anatolia, the heart of the Ottoman Empire, and must hurry to establish a camp.
  • Tamerlane's main adversary, the Ottoman Sultan Bayezid (Cyan), has marched his forces to the center of the map and camped there. When Bayezid launches his attack, be prepared to face Janissaries, Hussars, and Bombard Cannons.
  • Assisting Bayezid's army are several companies of auxiliary troops (Green), some of whose loyalties are dubious. The Sipahis of the Anatolian Beyliks field Cavalry Archers and Heavy Camel Riders, the Qara Tatars control a force of Tarkans and Camel Archers, the Wallachians bring Pikemen and Skirmishers, and the Balkan auxiliaries are comprised of Champions and Crossbowmen.
  • The Ottoman Empire (Blue) controls several minor supply camps scattered around the map, but operates mainly out of a dangerous mountain fortress far to the south. Expect to face the finest troops that the Ottomans can offer - Hussars, Janissaries, Cavalry Archers, swordsmen, and Bombard Cannons.
  • The Knights Hospitaller (Orange) command the city of Smyrna to the west. This military order musters an army of Crusader knights both mounted and afoot supported by Skirmishers, Monks, and powerful Trebuchets.
  • Taherten, a local Turkoman emir, rules the citadel of Erzincan (Yellow) in the east of the map. His loyalties are unknown, but it is clear that he has large forces of cavalry at his disposal.

Players[]

Player[]

  • Player A (AI name: Tamerlane) (Tatars AoE2 Tatars): The player starts with an army from the north, and must first build up defenses and train more troops to prepare for the Ottoman assault. While mustering up forces, they can also raid the Ottoman Empire supply camps to find resources, and reduce their army strength.
  • Player B (AI name: The Timurid Army) (Tatars AoE2 Tatars): The player starts with an army from the north, and must first build up defenses and train more troops to prepare for the Ottoman assault. While mustering up forces, they can also raid the Ottoman Empire supply camps to find resources, and reduce their army strength.

Allies[]

  • Turkomans (Tatars AoE2 Tatars): The Turkomans, led by Taherten, set up a base to the east, and will first require Tamerlane to bring 5 Elite Keshiks to their Castle to gain their allegiance. After that, the players can trade with them. Also, they will send troops to assist the players' attack on the Ottomans. Furthermore, Bayezid I's camp for preparing an assault on the players' bases will be given to the Turkomans after the players defeat the Ottoman assault.

Ally → Enemy[]

  • Ottoman Auxiliaries (Turks AoE2 Turks): the companies of auxiliary troops of the Ottoman Empire. They consist of the Sipahis of the Anatolian Beyliks, which field Cavalry Archers and Heavy Camel Riders; the Qara Tatars, which control a force of Tarkans and Camel Archers; the Wallachians, being Pikemen and Skirmishers; and the Balkan auxiliaries, comprised of Champions and Crossbowmen. Once approached, they will give the players side objectives in order to join Tamerlane's Army. The rest of the auxiliaries will join the main army of the Ottomans and attack the players once Bayezid mounts his assault.

Enemies[]

  • Sultan Bayezid I (Turks AoE2 Turks): Bayezid I and his army is situated directly ahead of the players' bases. After 30 minutes, his army will launch an attack on the players' bases. After being defeated, Bayezid will flee to his Castle and the players must capture him by destroying his Castle.
  • Knights Hospitaller (Teutons AoE2 Teutons): The Hospitallers control the city port of Smyrna, which the players must besiege and defeat. They will attack the player with a force consisting of Cavaliers and Teutonic Knights, supported by Skirmishers, Monks, and Trebuchets. The Crusaders also possess a small navy.
  • Ottoman Empire (Turks AoE2 Turks): the main body of the Ottoman Army. They have several supply camps which the players can raze for resources. Their base is well-fortified, with Keeps and Bombard Towers, and they will attack the players with their finest troops: Hussars, Janissaries, Cavalry Archers, swordsmen, and Bombard Cannons.
